The Bird

This may be my favorite designs of all time. I have made it countless time. The design is simple. It is a dove made of hammered metal. Nothing else. Hang it on a black cord or a silver chain and you are good to go. Yes it's simple but I think that is what makes it beautiful. This is also one of my older designs. In Sophmore year my friend and I came up with it together to fit her description of what kind of necklace she wanted. I owe to it her. I would never have drawn up the design if she hadn't asked for a bird!

A Stained Glass Piece

So this is a new design that I came up with yesterday. It is taking the basic principle of one of my earring designs and altering it to incorporate stained glass since my mom has a ton of it in her basement. The outside is hammered metal and I wrapped the piece in silver plated wire. The necklace is pretty big but if you wear it with a plain shirt it looks pretty decent. This is the first necklace in hopefully a series so there will be more pictures to come!

Silver

Silver is one of the medias I would like to work in more. Unfortunately it is a pretty expensive media so I don't often work with it. Silver is a transition metal. It has the highest electrical conductivity of any metal. It is a precious metal used in jewelry, ornaments, utensils, and coins. Here are some different examples of how it can me used and worked.

One of my favorite designs is a type of wire earring. I intertwine wire with beads to create a funky interesting piece. Here are a few examples.

Mixing medias

This is a necklace that I designed in the summer. I haven't made another like it since. I really like this one because it is different from a lot of the other things I do. I usually do either wire or metal, i rarely combine the two medias. The necklace is made of hammered silver will a stone placed in the center. I then added a simple wire design to hang underneath.
